Retained Life Estate with Gift Annuity - Owning real property - a home, a
vacation home, an undeveloped parcel of land or even a farm - provides one with
a sense of comfort and financial security. Needless to say, these "present
interest" benefits of owning real property are very important for our
peace of mind and well-being.
But what about when we pass away, when we no longer have a use or need for
owning real property? Although one's "remainder interest" in real
property holds little tangible value to the property owner, inheriting such
real property can of course be of great value to the selected "remainder
interest" beneficiary.
If additional income is presently needed, you can turn your "remainder
interest" in your real property into a lifetime income stream by making an
irrevocable gift of your "remainder interest" to the Surfrider
Foundation in return for a Gift Annuity. You keep the "present
interest" in the real property, thus allowing you to continue to use,
possess and enjoy all the benefits that your real property presently
provides. You simply agree to give the Surfrider Foundation your real
property at that time when you no longer have a use or need for such - upon
your death.
By naming the Surfrider Foundation as the irrevocable beneficiary of the
"remainder interest" in your real property, we will undoubtedly be
receiving something of value. Thus, in return for the "remainder
interest", the Surfrider Foundation will agree to pay you a lifetime of
income based upon the value of the "remainder interest". What
better way to tangibly enjoy the full benefits of property ownership than to
turn the "remainder interest" in your real property into a stream of
income that will be received for the remainder of your life.
If you have made a provision in your estate plans for the Surfrider Foundation
please let us know so that we may recognize you and appropriately thank you for
your commitment and support.
