Artificial Surfing Reefs

construction of Pratte's ReefArtificial Surfing Reefs (ASRs) are being considered for recreational enhancement and also for erosion control. In 2000 the Surfrider Foundation constructed an artificial reef in El Segundo, CA as mitigation for a lost surfing resource. Because it has not improved surf quality and has begun to deteriorate, we are planning to remove the reef in the fall of 2008. You can learn more about this ASR below.
